The largest turnout of any bass tournament held on Lake Casitas this season crowded into the Marina Café for the WON BASS "Casitas Region" 3rd event of the season 3/2/2013. A standing room only crowd got final instructions as teams prepared to take on Lake Casitas and it's 80° daytime temperatures. With water temperatures climbing to nearly 61° there was quite a bit to consider as the teams put together their final game plans.

Stan Vanderburg and Mike Arujo are all smiles after their victory at Lake Casitas

Veterans Stan Vanderburg and Mike Arujo were not detoured as they calmly went about their business and outdistanced the field by nearly 3 1/2 pounds by dumping a 19.46 pound sack of bass on the scales and collecting $1750 in cash for their days work. It was business as usual for Stan and Mike as they fished a Robo Worm and fished it slow. Stan told a large crowd at the award ceremony that they caught there bass on a variety of colors in 15 to 40 feet of water.

Taking a completely different approach was the team of Matt Newman and Brian Evans. They laid their boat up in shallow water and focused on site fishing, and blind fishing shallow water spawning bass to bag 16.16 pounds of bass and 2nd place. Brian explained how the bass were very spooky and they had to sit the boat back and make long blind casts at the shallow water spawning bass. Their efforts pocketed them $950 in cash.

WON BASS regulars Jim Taibi and Tim Tuttle picked up right where they left off last season and captured a beautiful 16 pound bag of bass which included a 5.96 pound big bass and pocketed a whopping $1,145 in cash for there 3rd place finish. Rounding out the money list was the team of Ron and Chris Hagen finishing 4th and picking up $120 for the days work. The next tournament on the WON BASS "Casitas Region" tour is March 16.
